Guy Mariano Wins Big At TWS Skate Awards

March 01, 2013

Last night marked the 15th Annual Transworld Skateboarding Awards honoring the sports biggest and brightest stars. Going down every year in the heart of Hollywood this party can basically be considered Skateboarding's big night out, where everybody converges on the Avalon Hollywood for five hours of sheer fun. A night where its not uncommon to rub elbows (literally) with your favorite current pro or completely fan out on legends of the past. A night that you remember and think about until the next one rolls around...unless you have so much fun that you accidentally forget-if you get our drift. A night that is special, and this year made it that much better as we were fortunate enough to watch our very own Guy Mariano double-fist it and take home two trophies; one for the coveted "Readers' Choice" award and the other for "Video Part of the Year" due to his sensational role in Girl/Chocolate's Prettysweet (which also won the "Video of the Year" award). When all was said and done our friend Mr. Mariano actually graced the stage three times, which is actually an astounding feat and never seen before 60% win ratio! We honestly couldn't be more happy for Guy, and watching him triumph and graciously accept his awards was so gratifying and we feel couldn't have gone to a more deserving individual. Guy is seriously one of the coolest, most down to earth individuals we've ever known and we want to give a big cheers to Transworld and their readers for nailing this one right on the head! Just whatever you do don't call it a comeback... The scene inside the Avalon. Show DJ C-Bot, aka Chris Cote. Lizard on hosting duties?? And the winner is...   Yuppp... Guy Mariano! DGK accepts the award for best team. Our dear friends at Girl/Chocolate winning "Video of the Year" for Prettysweet. C'mon, was there really any question... Yep, Guy won two awards! Have you seen his Prettysweet part yet? After party in the back room Bardot of the Avalon. Mike Mo and his lovely lady Talisa enjoying the evening. David Loy in the house. With little bro Ethan as well. Hope that wrists heals soon bud, its not supposed to look like a U is it? Don't take the alley shortcut out. All eyes were on the video premiere. The view of DTLA from the top of the Roosevelt Hotel. Ya, that's right, somehow we managed to make our way into the Penthouse... Ryan Reyes representing. The dopest sight of the evening, the fabled Roosevelt sign. An eerily empty Hollywood Blvd. Apparently refreshments and dudes in robes were everywhere. If you took home on of these congrats, you are
