Safest camera insert available

Camera-specialised backpacks are often boxy and stiff. They are overkill for an amateur like me who is veeeery slowly growing their kit and doesn't have enough to fill an entire backpack and has other non-camera stuff to lug around. I spent about a month looking for an insert or case that I could put in a regular bag, something padded enough that would protect my camera stuff even sans padding around the bag it was placed in. I considered f-stop ICUs, Tenba inserts, and more. I finally settled on this DSLR gear case and am happy with it. It's padded af and feels very sturdy. The main long divider is a little under 1 inch thick, while the smaller subdividers are about .75 inches thick. The exterior walls are about 0.5 inches, which I was a bit worried about at first, but they have done their job so far. It's big enough to fit my full-frame Canon Mark 5D Mark IV and attached 24–70mm lens both lengthwise and breadthwise—and could easily fit 1 extra telephoto lens OR a couple small wide angles or primes besides. When I finally outgrow it and graduate to a legit photographer's backpack, I will still use it as a storage case in my home. The water resistant coated canvas exterior takes a load off my mind in case of accidental water bottle spills in my bag. I do wish the zipper extended to give me side/top access for when it's standing up in my bag, though. And if it had molle webbing, even better. Would love to see a Raven tarpaulin version of this little guy. The measurements stated in this product detail page are a little off. Mine clocks in at approximately 10 x 10 x 5 inches.

It's just a perfect size for my backpack.

Finally!!! Exactly what I've been looking for!!!

I literally searched for a month to find the perfect camera bag insert for my new dslr. I ordered some off of Amazon only to return them because of poor quality and akward dimensions. I was determined to find a solution that would not only serve me in the short run with being able to take the camera and lenses that I currently have with me in whatever bag I chose, but also in the long run being a great lens only storage case. As soon as I took it out of the box I was impressed. It looked just like the photos online. The heavy duty waxed canvas and buttery smooth zipper not only looked amazing but was beautiful to touch. The inside and dividers were also a high quality soft material, which made me confident that my gear wouldn't get scratched and would also be protected from accidental bumps in my bag. This insert fits easily in a school sized backpack and also looks pretty awesome sitting on my desk. I love how easy it is to access all of my lenses individually, instead of having to dig them out like other inserts. I also love that even though, the insert might not be a quick access option, I am more than confident that my stuff would be protected in my bag if something leaked or if caught in a sudden downpour. I can be a very picky person when it comes to making certain purchases of value, but I can honestly say this Hex insert is worth the investment!
