Exactly what I was looking for
I was searching everywhere for a bag I could use as a daily carry to work/commute, but with an external waterbottle holder and a good amount of extra space. This duffel fits the bill. I use the dedicated laptop side for my computer and folders/documents/etc. and the small zip section for small office supplies. The large duffel section is perfect for me to pack my lunch and other tech equipment, plus there is room for a set of running shoes and clothes (provided I pack carefully... it's just one large compartment, so things can get jumbled). The dedicated shoe compartment is a little small for my running shoes, but they can be shoved in there with some effort. Calling it a duffel is appropriate because it does end up pretty big when full, but I'd rather have the space available than not. Bag feels high quality, and I hope durability will hold up. My only improvements would be the shoulder strap, which feels inadequate, especially with the bag fully loaded. I would appreciate something with more padding that doesn't slip around as much. I wish the laptop/document section was a little bit larger, because sometimes it gets hard to close with a decent stack of papers in there.
